Please Help Us With Interloper Kitty!

Dear Kitties and People of the Catblogosphere,

My People and I need your advice. If you look at my sidebar, you will see a picture of the Grey Cat. It says she likes to eat my grass. Now I know why she eats my grass. She is very, very hungry. She is trying to come in my house and this is a one cat house - ME. Here she is in my back yard a couple of days ago.

The Grey Cat lives next door with the Pink People. I have written about them before. I am 17 years old, and came to live with my People when I was a stray kitten. Since that time, the Pink People (because they have a stairway that is pink) have had lots of animals. They have had 4 cats. The first cat they had was Onyx. Soon after they got Onyx, he jumped over the fence, sat in my Food Dude's lap and never left. Against my protests, Onyx moved in. He just wouldn't leave. The Pink People told us a few years later that they had brought him home from the shelter.

Then the Pink People got George the Cat. George started coming over to visit too. He liked my cat food and nip. George also liked the Food Lady very much. George got a little sister kitten. The little kitten started coming over to visit and eat our food and visit the Food Lady. This seemed very strange. Yes the Food Lady is a cat person but this did not seem right. Then some of the Pink People moved away and took George and the Kitten with them. A few years later, we heard that they had run away.

The Grey Cat has been with the Pink People for a few years. She sits in my yard and eats my grass. I sort of ignored her. She would rub against the Food Lady and act like she wanted to be friends, and then she would hiss at the Food Lady and raise her claws to her. She did not seem very sociable.

A few days ago, my Food Lady gave the Grey Cat some food because she seemed hungry. The Grey Cat ate the food as though she was starving. The Food Lady tried to pet her a little afterwards and the Grey Cat was still clawy. Tonight she came back for more food.

I don't want a new cat in the house. But I also don't want a kitty to starve. The kitty seems unsocialized even though she has a home. It seems odd that 4 cats the neighbors have owned have tried to move in here.

What should we do? Should my People keep feeding her? I chased her out of my yard today. Please tell us what you think.

We would feed Grey Cat. It hurts to be hungry, and if no one is feeding her, she must hurt.

Momma has taken in two, TWO more cats. She was going to TNR them, but she is such a failure. Our sisfur Anna Sue is all Claws and Teeth and Hissy, but we are working it out.

Our vote is feed Grey Cat.

It's obvious you have the best house in your neighborhood and all the cats know it! Can your people talk with the Pink People and find out what's going on with Grey Cat? Like are they feeding her and taking care of her? It's sad that people bring home animals and then don't take proper care of them. Sounds like this may be the case with Pink People. If Pink People don't really care about Grey Cat, maybe your People know some other People that might want to adopt Grey Cat??

Jolly, Halloween this is a tough one.
I don;t think I'd like any other cat living in my house either. But if a kitty is hungry .... well, I just know that mine mombean would want to give it some foods.

Maybe she should talk to the pink people.

But, yeah, she'd put some foods in a dish that is outta mine sight.

oh we agree that maybe your mommy can feed the grey cat out of your line of sight.

We agree wif da others, dat poor kitty should not go hungry. Mom had always fed the outside cats (who have homes but were left outside alla time) behind da garage where we could not see. We don't get many cats wandering around anymore cuz mom put letters in all da naybors doors telling dem she would be trapping strays fur neuter and re-homing.

Ok to feed the cat, not OK to bring the cat into the house. I wonder what the pink people are doing that their kitties all want to get out of the house?

nice to meet you! we is visiting for the first time.

we thinks you should tell your momma that it is okay to feed the hungry kitty but to put the bowl where you can not see hers eating. does the grey kitty ever go home or does she hang out in your yard all of the time?

mommees also wonders why all of the pink peeples kittys dont want to live w/ the pink peeples. hmmm, sounds fishy. perhaps these peeple have good intentions but donts really know how to take care of the kittys they adopts. mommees feels sorry for hers.

We would say feed the Gray Cat, but like some people have already said, it'd be good if it happened someplace you can't see. Then it's not so stressful for you. There have been some visitors to our place over time, and Mum has always made sure we knew that we were number 1, and that we weren't hurt by the visitors. Hope this helps,

We think a hungry cat needs to be fed (but so you can't see her) Try talking to the Pink People and see if you can get some idea of how they take care of her. She might not like being petted because she has been roughly handled in the past or maybe she has a pain issue going on. We think Zippy, Sadie and Speedy's Mom's method of a leaflet drop is really good, it might spur them into thinking about how they care for their kitty or your Mom could maybe get her rehomed. If the Pink People have a dog, this could be a reason why the cats keep coming to your home, if the dog is worrying them.

Ditto to what Whicky said. Hope it goes OK for Grey cat!
